⚠️ The past seven years have been the hottest on record since scientific measurements of Earth's temperature have existed, and rising ocean levels also reached new record levels. 🥵
➡️ This is what emerges from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) State of the Global Climate 2021 report, presented yesterday at COP26 in Glasgow, the United Nations Conference on Climate Change.
🌡 Scientists found that the average temperature in 2021, between January and September, was about 1.09 degrees above the 1850-1900 average. that is, above the temperatures of the pre-industrial period.
🌊 The report also shows that the increase in ocean levels has undergone a further surge since 2013. If from 1993 to 2002 the rise in water was equal to 2.1 mm per year, from 2013 until today it was equal to 4.4 mm per year.
🌍 Record greenhouse gas concentrations and accumulated heat have propelled the planet into uncharted territory, with far-reaching repercussions for current and future generations. Extreme events are becoming the new norm: WMO #StateofClimate 2021 #COP26.
